Ciao Kelly, buon giorno Alghero

A
father-daughter lunchtime toast in Cagliari

Another beach day at Costa Rei:

Our next stop on Sardegna was a visit to the capital city, Cagliari.  The drive was on an extremely curvy but scenic road, with many 180 degree bends.

The view from Il Castello looking down on Cagliari.  Il Castello is one of four sections of Cagliari and dates back to the 1200s.  It was controlled, for many years by the Pisans, then the Spanish.

Did Kelly find that Nancy graffitti or vandalize the walls herself?

graffitti everywhere, even in 12th century towns

After our day in Cagliari it was time to move camp to a hotel near Olbia as Kelly had to head back to Seattle Friday morning.  We stayed in a tiny town called Vecchie Saline ("old salt:"), near the coast.  It was a surprisingly large apartment with three bedrooms and two bathrooms--only 60 euros.

We were sad to see Kelly leave this morning.  We headed off to our new spot next to the Palmavera Nuraghe near Alghero (we fly out of Alghero on 5/21).  It is another beautiful spot, with a shady terrace and a little patio with garden.

Tomorrow it is off to the the Grotto di Nettuno and various nurachic sites--in other words, Tom heaven.  Ciao a tutti!
