A Night Out In Chioggia

We returned to Seattle after a great trip to Padua--it felt like we were coming home, especially because we recognized the bus stop and were able to get off a block from the apartment instead of a mile away as we did when we first came from Venice.  One last Padua picture, my attempt to capture the night view from our hotel--full moon and all.

Lazy weekend, but last night we went to a concert in Chioggia to celebrate Verdi's birthday.  Franca was in the chorus, after spending the day trying to finish painting a large sculpture she made.

After many selections from Verdi, a soloist (accompanied by the band) sang Moon River, You Lift Me Up, and Minnie the Moocher.  I tried to upload the videos but kept getting an error message, I'll try to put Minnie the Moocher on Facebook.

After the concert we joined Franca, Angelo and their friends from the concert at a restaurant for dinner and singing.  Pizza, wine, dessert and coffee for 10 euros.  The group sang a lot of Italian songs.  We especially enjoyed our new friend Leo who sat next to us.  He will be 91 on 2 December and fought in WW II against the Americans, but still likes Americans anyway.

Leo with us--don't know why Tom looks so maniacal!

Everyone in the room is part of the party!

Leo does a duet with his friend to great acclaim

This little girl was the hit of the party!

Everyone enjoyed the meal
